Final Project

Rectuk is a coffee table made of three woods: oak, cedar and zebrano. The tabletop was made by gluing previously cut, adjusted and sanded planks and strips onto a plywood board. The legs, made of local oak, are joined to the tabletop and to each other using box and tenon joints made with a chisel.

The countertop is inspired by the work “Composition in red, yellow, blue, white and black” by the painter Piet Mondrian, characterized by the study of primary colors and black and white. Based on this, the woods were chosen to simulate the same contrast effect.

From this coffee table, you can create a whole collection of furniture, such as a side table with the same top, a dining table with its respective matching chairs, or a wooden bench. It can also be extrapolated to other areas of the house, such as the kitchen, and you can create another collection that includes spice cabinets, pantries and kitchen utensils.

It is a piece of furniture for everyday use, aimed at all types of people, but especially tall people. It is a coffee table suitable for a living room or lounge.

Materials: Oak, cedar and zebrano.

Techniques: assembly and marking.
