This project is born from a personal interest in the history of football and to make known the beginnings of this sport not only in Galicia, but also at national level.
The Exiles Football Club, from now on Exiles FC, was founded at the end of the 19th century in Vigo by a group of English workers who moved to Galicia to carry out the maintenance of the English Cable. The society made up of people from a small isolated town in the south of Cornwall (United Kingdom) was one of the first sports societies created in the Spanish state at that time. Although football was a booming sport in England, it was an unknown sport in the Iberian Peninsula.
This group of employees, who worked for the international company Eastern Telegraph Company Ltd., began to be called exiles, which in Galician means exiles. It is precisely this nickname that gives its name to the football team, born around the year 1876. Although very little is known about this club, it is believed to be one of the proto-clubs that served to promote the sport in the country.
Taking advantage of the centenary of the Real Clube Celta de Vigo (the oldest in the olive city) in the present 2024 and the consequent interest that has awakened in society, especially in the youngest, it is intended to make known the germ of Galician football through the resurgence of the proto-club Exiles FC, which almost two centuries later is still present in the memory of some football fans. However, the aging of the few who know him will cause his loss in the collective memory if his story is not told, if there is no palpable legacy.
Thus, a group of younger supporters wants to take over from the previous generation, which managed to transmit the heritage of the team, although mostly orally. These siareiros seek to revive the club through different actions ranging from the promotion of the team to the reconfiguration of it through events in which it is present: football matches, meetings of various kinds, etc.
The promotion of the club involves the work of the graphic identity considering that it is one of the first clubs in the State, but from the perspective of the 21st century.
