The Antonio Faílde School of Art and Design held its third CREA conference.
This event has been held biannually for six years and aims to make visible the activities and the educational offer of the EASD in its social, cultural and productive environment, offering interesting conferences by prestigious professionals in the applied arts and design, as well as the promotion of the projects of their graduated students.
The events of the conference were held between the 24th, 25th and 26th of April in the two usual locations; The Cultural Center Marcos Valcárcel of the Provincial Council of Ourense, in the center of the city, and the headquarters of the EASD itself in the neighborhood of Cuña-Mariñamansa.
For this edition, we have the presence at the Marcos Valcárcel Cultural Center of great leaders in the fields of applied arts and design. On Monday, April 24, we had Fernando Vicente (Madrid 1963), painter, illustrator, comic strip creator and winner of several Awards of Excellence from the Society for News Design. On Tuesday, April 25, it was Francisco Fra 's turn (San Cibrao - Mariña lucense, 1965), fifth generation of a saga of riverside carpenters and Francesc Rifé (Sant Sadurni 1969) interior designer and winner of the FAD, ContractWorld or ASCER awards. On Wednesday 25, graphic designer Manuel Estrada (Madrid 1953), National Design Award and filmmaker Jaime Rosales (Barcelona 1970) , Goya Award, Cannes and S. Sebastián , respectively, discussed various aspects of graphic design and cinematography. Other events developed at this headquarters were: on the 24th, the presentation of the yearbook of the EASD Antonio Faílde and the awarding of the awards for revitalizing the Galician language to the final projects of the students and on the 25th, an interesting colloquium by Francesc Rifé with the chefs of the Nova restaurant , Daniel Guzmán and Julio Sotomayor on the design of spaces in the restaurant.
The rest of the activities took place at the EASD Antonio Faílde headquarters: on Monday, April 24, the opening of the exhibition Peles de 7", an interesting project that combined illustration, tattooing and vinyl collecting, followed by David's lecture on tattooing and underground culture Diz and Simón Seoane, former students of the school. On Tuesday, April 25, Jennifer Novoa and the OllO Collective, students who graduated from photography, presented their current research and projects, and on Wednesday, April 26, Isabel Neira, a renowned wood craftsman, gave a lecture.
The EASD Antonio Faílde invited all citizens to come to these events to get a close look at the actuality of professional practices full of creativity and technique, very necessary and demanded by society and the productive environment. We dedicate ourselves to this training, with the vocation to contribute to the social and economic progress of our city and the country. This is our reason for being.
