The piece, called Tantak —which translates as “drops” in Basque— is a unique work that stands out for its meticulous craftsmanship. It is made with a circular base of walnut wood, a material that is not only aesthetically appealing but also provides great resistance and durability.
Along the perimeter of the base, runs a sheet of ash, a type of wood known for its lightness and its ability to resist deformation. This sheet not only provides a visual contrast with the walnut, but also serves to reinforce the structure of the piece. In addition, to increase the size of the tray in a proportional and balanced way, two additional sheets of ash, meticulously cut in half, surround the base.
The two ash slats, which widen outwards, end in an oval shape. This detail is particularly important, as it includes an elegant hairpin made of walnut wood, which resembles a belt buckle. This hairpin not only fulfills the practical function of closing the joints of the tray, but also adds a distinctive touch that enhances its beauty. The combination of these elements provides exceptional solidity to the structure, ensuring that the piece is not only visually attractive but also resistant and durable, perfect for both decorative and functional use.
