The Antonio Failde School of Art and Design celebrates its fourth CREA conference.
This event has been held biannually for eight years and aims to make the activities and training offer of the EASD visible in its social, cultural and productive environment, offering interesting conferences by prestigious professionals in the applied arts and design, as well as highlighting the projects of its graduates. The events of the conference will be held on April 1, 2 and 3 at the EASD headquarters within the Universidade Laboral educational complex in the A Cuña neighborhood.
For this edition we will have the presence of great references from the fields of applied arts and design. On Tuesday, April 1, we will have typographic designer Laura Meseguer , winner, among others, of the Type Directors Club award in New York. On Wednesday, April 2, it will be the turn of filmmaker Mercedes Álvarez , who has won numerous international awards such as the Tiger Award at the Rotterdam Festival or the First Prize at the Cinema du Reel competition in Paris, and Sonia Pulido, illustrator and winner of the 2020 National Illustration Award. On Thursday, the 3rd, we will be visited by the prestigious architect and interior designer Laura Ortín and product designer Ismael Velo , winner of the emerging talent award in the IV edition of the Galicia Innovation and Design Awards .
Other events to be developed will be:
On Tuesday, April 1, the opening of the exhibition of the Pruden Tattoo studio, an interesting project by Anxo Varela and Lúa Lomo that combines tattooing, illustration and graphic design, whose presentation will take place in the afternoon of that day, along with those of Zeltia Iglesias and Xurxo Baca , graphic design professionals and former students of the school. Also in the morning of that day, the presentation of Nimia , the 2024 yearbook of the EASD Antonio Failde and the awarding of the 2024 Galician Language Promotion Awards to final student projects will be held.
On Wednesday, April 2, the documentary by audiovisual creator David Hernández “Ollar, a selection of contemporary Galician photography” will be screened, photographers Toni Cortés and Lois Cid will present the photobook “MAN” and illustrators, former students of the EASD, Blanca Muñiz, Elena Andrés and Maiky Odel will share their professional experiences.
On Thursday, April 3, cabinetmaker Chus Lamas will give a lecture about her artisan workshop O Covil and former student of the school Andrea García, awarded with several awards, will present her professional interior design projects. Also presenting their project “O Xardín de Casandra” awarded at the International Garden Design Festival of Allariz will be the students of the Interior Design Degree María Molina, Iria Pereira and Carla Villar .
EASD Antonio Failde invites all citizens to attend these events to learn about the current state of professional practices full of creativity and technique, very necessary and in demand by society and the productive environment. We dedicate ourselves to this training, with the vocation of contributing to the social and economic progress of our city and the country. This is our reason for being.
