The Garden of Cassandra is inspired by the myth of Cassandra from Greek mythology. Cassandra, a Trojan princess, received the gift of prophecy from Apollo as a sign of his love. When she rejected it, Apollo cursed her: although she could foresee the future, no one would believe her warnings. Cassandra predicted the fall of Troy and other disasters, but her prophecies were ignored, dooming her people. This myth reflects the tragedy of silenced truth and the high cost of ignoring warnings about a foreseeable future. This story connects directly to the current climate crisis and the theme of this edition of the Allariz Gardens competition: Climate Change. For years, the scientific community has warned about its dangers, but these warnings are ignored or minimized, repeating the tragedy of Cassandra. Climate change is an unheeded prophecy whose consequences will be irreversible if action is not taken in time.
