Date: Wednesday, April 26 at 11:00 a.m.

Place: Auditorium of the EASD Antonio Faílde.

Isabel Neira (Caracas 1976) has a degree in chemistry and works as a plumber in Berres (A Estrada - Pontevedra).

In 2001 he started working in the family workshop assembling and installing lamps as well as small auxiliary furniture that he sold directly under the Atalanta Madera Artesana brand. In 2002, he decided to learn the trade, mainly so that all that ancestral knowledge that was kept in his family would not be lost. In 2006 he took over the family workshop after the death of his father. In 2010, he reoriented the Atalanta Madera brand towards high-quality wooden tableware, proposing timeless designs, indigenous woods formerly used in these uses, and very careful finishes. Its first sign of identity in this new journey of the brand was the birch wood plates.

In 2018 his screw nutcracker in ash and birch woods was recognized by the Tate Modern Gallery in London as a representative object of contemporary design, putting it on sale in their shop. In 2020 he recovered the elder wood for everyday use with the reusable straws. In 2021, a picnic tablecloth bag with its matching utensils caused a sensation. In 2022, the nutcracker became part of the selection of handmade pieces that the prestigious British brand Toast has in its online store.

Throughout all this time, personalized work adapted to the needs of customers (especially hospitality) has been a sign of identity in this new journey of a trade as traditional as turnery.
