Place: EASD Antonio Faílde.
Ismael is a product designer from Ourense, currently based in Porto. After attending the Elisava School in Barcelona, and a short exchange period at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Trondheim), he completed a Master's degree in Industrial Design at the Technical University of Eindhoven (Netherlands) before finishing in Amsterdam, where he has lived in recent years.
In the workplace, he started working at the materials library MATERFAD. For a few years he was part of the FROLIC studio team, playing an important catalytic role in transforming what was a small technological startup into a studio in which design and sustainability are fundamental values. There he covered different disciplines and worked with industries and professionals as diverse as advertising agencies, international cooperation agents, small artisans or innovation departments of major brands such as IKEA or PVH. His work consisted of infusing quality, sensitivity and sophistication into the final product, in addition to a special attention to detail, which ultimately helped improve competitiveness.
Currently, a large part of his efforts are focused on adding value to the playground industry through design for Earthscape Play, a Canadian company that designs playgrounds almost exclusively in wood for the international market. His role is to ensure that the artistic quality of the products plays a differential role in that industry, expanding the thematic and aesthetic boundaries of this type of product without neglecting safety and accessibility.
