"The project and its territories"
Eduardo Aires (PhD) is the founder and artistic director of Studio Eduardo Aires and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto.
His professional experience dates back to 1987 and has since then revealed a multidisciplinary approach to the world of design. Dominated by graphic and editorial expression, it also includes forays into the product and interior territories. Among the clients of Studio Eduardo Aires are companies and institutions such as Herdade do Esporão, Imprensa Nacional - Casa da Moeda, CTT Correios de Portugal or the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, which attest to the breadth of projects and disciplines that have crossed paths under the artistic direction of its founder.
In 2019, he directed the project selected in an international competition to conceive the new image of Grupo Amorim, world leader in the cork sector. He is the author of the visual identity project for the city of Porto, internationally recognized in the fields of identity design and territorial branding and represented, among others, in the History of Graphic Design edited by Taschen (2018) and in the History of Portuguese Design coordinated by José Bártolo (2016), as well as in specialized periodicals such as Novum and Graphis.
In his presentation of this and other projects, he will address not only the case study but also the procedural and methodological dimension of design.
