Place: Auditorium of the EASD Antonio Faílde.

The designer Pepe Barro analyzes various icons of Rosalía de Castro and comes to the conclusion that there are three visions of Rosalías embodied in three different, even opposing, images. Photography, illustration and painting are mixed with poems, songs and iconographic analysis, in an illustrated oral exhibition.

Pepe Barro

The first works published by Pepe Barro date from the period 1972-1975, linked to cultural activities developed in Santiago de Compostela. In 1977, No. 0 of A Nosa Terra, a weekly newspaper in the Galician language, was published, which, in an era of recovery of democratic freedoms, put into circulation a new informative project with a historical header of Galician culture. At the age of twenty-two, having just finished his studies at the EINA school in Barcelona, Pepe Barro carries out the graphic project and is responsible for the design week by week, during the first two years of the publication's existence. This project establishes the roots of this professional in Galicia and directs his work towards the world of Galician culture - publishing houses, theater groups, magazines...-. In 1981 he showed his work in the Sargadelos gallery in Santiago de Compostela.

With the development of the bodies of the autonomous government of Galicia, institutional mandates arise (1983 memorandum of SODIGA, Society for the Industrial Development of Galicia, and projects for the first activities of the Department of Culture). In 1984 the ephemeral design studio BC&D (Barro, Campos and Díaz) was created and in 1985 Grupo Revisión Deseño, initially with Pepe Barro, Xosé Díaz (until 1995) and Lia Santana, which was then joined by Xosé Salgado.

The specialized magazines Línea Gráfica, On, De Diseño, Visual, Experimenta and Artegráfica have published reports on Grupo Revisión.

Several designs from this study appear in the book Historia del Diseño Gráfico en España, Enric Satué (Alianza Editorial, Madrid, 1997)
